Week 10 & Term 1 Reflection

Week 10
Last week I trialed for the Jump Jam competition team. I trialed with Emma to the song Blame It On The Boogie. Luckily, we both got a call back. We had another audition as well. This time it was all about the facials. We are still waiting to hear from Ms Bailey if we got in or not.
We also had summer games. For summer games I played non-stop cricket. In the team I was playing in there was Jess, Lennox, Liam and other people that I can't remember the names of. Our house came last. Puniu is now on the bottom of the house points.
In tech arts we made slime, soap and made salt and fresh water from salt water.

Term 1 Reflection
Term 1 has gone past so fast. In the space of one term I have managed to meet heaps more people in and out of school. This term was really busy with heaps of trials, call-backs and practices. It wasn't easy getting used to being a year 8 because there is so much more pressure to get things right and to do them right. The year 8's last year made it look so easy. It was really weird having knew people in our class as at primary we had mainly the same class all the way through. I miss the year 8's already. Although saying that, I do really enjoy having the year 7's in the class.
Tech arts this term has been more fun than last year. This year in sewing I made a  jersey with a hood and a pocket. I'm really proud of myself that I did it in such a short amount of time because I then had time left over to do a soccer ball. Unfortunately, I didn't finish, and I have no idea where it is. Science this year has been pretty full on. We have done heaps of theory work and three experiments so far.
I hope that I get more involved in school activities next term.
I have had an amazing first term and can't wait for the rest of the year.

I also forgot to mention that the Saturday before we left for camp I trialed for the Jump Jam video and was
fortunate to be on it with Bret Fairweather.

Wellington Camp

My favorite part on camp was H2O  Extreme. H2O Extreme is a place with warm pools. It has a wave pool, a lane pool, a spa and 3 hydro slides. I spent most of the time here on these. It was really fun when we went down the slide all at a time because at the end everyone piled up. We also went to Zealandia. This is a place where you can see heaps of endemic, native and introduced birds. Zealandia is a bird sanctuary. My second favorite part of the camp was Weta Workshop. Weta workshop has worked on many movies such as; District 9, Spider-man, Avengers, Black Sheep and many more. While we were in Weta workshop everyone's inner geek came outπŸ˜‚. We also went to Wellington Zoo. Here we saw a lot of animals including, Giraffes, lions and my personal favorites sun bears and otters. Many people from our class brought souvenirs. Most people brought a small stuff animal. I brought a small stuffed giraffe and a necklace with a lion on it. Snorkeling was really fun although it would have been funner if it was a warmer day with no windπŸ˜‚. While I was snorkeling I saw two Blue Moki and lots of big Paua. We also went to Parliament. Before we went in to the Bee Hive we saw Andrew Little. If you look on his face book page you can see my class with him. We also went to a Holocaust center. Here we learnt more about what happened during this time in our history. There was also a survivor of the Holocaust, her name was Vera. Vera was 4 years old when she was taken to a concentration camp in 1945. Even though it was a concentration camp the gassing chambers were not yet built, so it was called a holding camp instead.

Camp was so fun and I really enjoyed sharing it with some of my friends and new friends that I made on camp. Wellington was a great camp experience. The best camp I have ever been on!πŸ’›πŸ’›
