HI!
The holidays were pretty fun although I didn't do much. I went to a couple of peoples places, Raglan and a Birthday.
My goals for this term are,
1. To be more focused in class and hand my work in on time.
2. To use better vocab in my writing and doing the vocab sheets.
3. To extend myself in maths by trying the harder work.
4. I will also try and do more blogs.
I really hope that this is a good term to finish my two years at Te Awamutu Intermediate.

Week 4 Term 3

I cant remember much from last week apart from that I took photos at the band festival. It was fun and cool to listen to the bands play. I also had a go at trying to program the robots, but got frustrated and started programming a sphero instead. In music we played more kahoot and learnt about Asian music. It was cool. We also learnt a bit about rock'n'roll music. A major icon of rock'n'roll is Elvis Presely. We did ICAS Maths as well. I think I did okay, but I'll probably get participation anyway. There was also a cupcake day. I didn't buy any but there were some really cool designs. Some people did there speeches. Mine is on Monday. I would like to finish this blog with a quote by Elvis, Thank you, thank you very much.

Week 2 Term 3

This week has been very tiring because I have netball everyday after school apart from Monday, but I have dance on Monday and Dance on Thurday. I am very tired and will probably fall asleep during class. Last week in music we did reggie music and focused alot on Bob Marley. We learnt how to play the song "Three Little Birds" on the guitar, keyboard and drums. We put all these imstuments together and it sounded cool. Then at the next lesson we did Blues music. We learnt about where blues music came from and about how it came from slavery years and years ago. We learnt how to play a Blues melody on the keyboard and guitar. We then played a game of Kahoot. We did one quiz on music and the other was about movies. I can't remember who won the first one, but Shaun won the second one and I came forth. The nicknames I used were- bter than u, and Bacon. On Saturday I played netball against another Te Awamutu Intermediate team. We won 37-10. In this game I learned to control myself when going for the ball because I contacted alot and had to adjust myself. On Sunday I went to a netball tournament. We won this tournament very convinsingly. I enjoyed this tournament alot because it was very physical and alot faster than Saturday netball. It was a good oppurtunity also for our coach to work out combinations and stratigies that will suit our play. Another good thing about it was there was alot of team bonding happening on and off the court. I have nearly finished the challenges in robotics apart from one which I get very fustrated with. After I have finished them I can go on and build a robot to programe.

Week 3 Term 2

We started food tech this week. In our first lesson of food we made cheese roll and dipsticks. This is basically cheese on toast. In our second lesson we made Focaccia bread. Next lesson we are going to be making banana cake. On Wednesday Mata Intermediate and Cambridge middle school came here for band camp. In Maths we were doing algebra. Most of it was revision, but other bits I had to re-learn. In writing we started a holocaust poem. I like writing the poem because its a different style of writing that we don't usually do.

Week 10 & Term 1 Reflection

Week 10
Last week I trialed for the Jump Jam competition team. I trialed with Emma to the song Blame It On The Boogie. Luckily, we both got a call back. We had another audition as well. This time it was all about the facials. We are still waiting to hear from Ms Bailey if we got in or not.
We also had summer games. For summer games I played non-stop cricket. In the team I was playing in there was Jess, Lennox, Liam and other people that I can't remember the names of. Our house came last. Puniu is now on the bottom of the house points.
In tech arts we made slime, soap and made salt and fresh water from salt water.
Term 1 Reflection
Term 1 has gone past so fast. In the space of one term I have managed to meet heaps more people in and out of school. This term was really busy with heaps of trials, call-backs and practices. It wasn't easy getting used to being a year 8 because there is so much more pressure to get things right and to do them right. The year 8's last year made it look so easy. It was really weird having knew people in our class as at primary we had mainly the same class all the way through. I miss the year 8's already. Although saying that, I do really enjoy having the year 7's in the class.
Tech arts this term has been more fun than last year. This year in sewing I made a jersey with a hood and a pocket. I'm really proud of myself that I did it in such a short amount of time because I then had time left over to do a soccer ball. Unfortunately, I didn't finish, and I have no idea where it is. Science this year has been pretty full on. We have done heaps of theory work and three experiments so far.
I hope that I get more involved in school activities next term.
I have had an amazing first term and can't wait for the rest of the year.
I also forgot to mention that the Saturday before we left for camp I trialed for the Jump Jam video and was
fortunate to be on it with Bret Fairweather.

Wellington Camp

My favorite part on camp was H2O Extreme. H2O Extreme is a place with warm pools. It has a wave pool, a lane pool, a spa and 3 hydro slides. I spent most of the time here on these. It was really fun when we went down the slide all at a time because at the end everyone piled up. We also went to Zealandia. This is a place where you can see heaps of endemic, native and introduced birds. Zealandia is a bird sanctuary. My second favorite part of the camp was Weta Workshop. Weta workshop has worked on many movies such as; District 9, Spider-man, Avengers, Black Sheep and many more. While we were in Weta workshop everyone's inner geek came out๐. We also went to Wellington Zoo. Here we saw a lot of animals including, Giraffes, lions and my personal favorites sun bears and otters. Many people from our class brought souvenirs. Most people brought a small stuff animal. I brought a small stuffed giraffe and a necklace with a lion on it. Snorkeling was really fun although it would have been funner if it was a warmer day with no wind๐. While I was snorkeling I saw two Blue Moki and lots of big Paua. We also went to Parliament. Before we went in to the Bee Hive we saw Andrew Little. If you look on his face book page you can see my class with him. We also went to a Holocaust center. Here we learnt more about what happened during this time in our history. There was also a survivor of the Holocaust, her name was Vera. Vera was 4 years old when she was taken to a concentration camp in 1945. Even though it was a concentration camp the gassing chambers were not yet built, so it was called a holding camp instead.
Camp was so fun and I really enjoyed sharing it with some of my friends and new friends that I made on camp. Wellington was a great camp experience. The best camp I have ever been on!๐๐

Week 6 & 7 Term 1

The Japanese students arrived! Our Japanese students name is Tukto.
Mrs Shaw and Mrs Ellis held auditions for the production. I was one of the first people to audition. In maths I have been doing BIDMAS and integers. I also learnt standard form. I had no idea what standard form was until we learnt it last week. But it is quite easy. I am now onto the extension work for maths. I finished writing my S.L.C and I didn't have to add anything on which is good. Mrs Shaw wanted me to write a speech to say at the Farewell assembly. I was really nervous. I think I did well although I did stumble over some words. We did heaps of work on commas, and where to put them. I knew where to put them, but needed a bit of revision. You always put commas before FANBOYS, and after the first phrase of a sentence if it starts with an AWUBIS word. We are also learning about the Holocaust. I knew nothing about the Holocaust, mainly because I had never heard the word. When I started to read stories about the Holocaust, I learnt that the Holocaust was during WW2. The Germans wanted a "perfect race", and the Jews, disabled, homosexuals and Jehovah Witnesses didn't fit in with the "superior race", so they were killed.
In the weekend I entered a team in for the Junior Farmer Competition that is held at Pokuru School. My team was Bobby, Holly and I. We also went to raglan to show our Japanese student the beach. We met up with Emma's family and it was heaps of fun. While I was in Raglan with Bobby and my family, we went swimming, shopping and better yet built sand castles (Although Emma and I mainly just covered Bobby in sand๐!).
Bye! Have a great week๐!

Week 5 Term 1

Last week we did a vocab test. I am really disappointed in my score, but it was only one test. We did a spelling test which I think I did well in.
We also had our first student assembly for the year, and it was HILARIOUS at the start. All the Councillors were sitting in their seats, with their class, then music started and they got up and danced onto the stage. We had swimming sports, but unfortunately I had a spewing bug and was unable to participate ๐ญ.
In class, we are still doing the explanation writing, and I am not to far through. Although I'm not far through, I think it is a good explanation, and not a report. We have also been doing heaps of maths, mainly rounding and place value. At the moment I am doing factors as I have finished the estimation/rounding.
Out of school, I am still doing lyrical. We learnt a new exercise, and it's quite weird but in a good way.
In my ballet class we were all very excited to go because we were going to get our pointe shoes. We had to wait from 5:15 - 6:30 to try them on. So mum took us out to sushi. Everyone in the class is super happy with their new shoes.
Thank you!

Week 4 Term 1

In sewing I learnt the difference between a sem and a hem. I am nearly finished with my jersey, all I have to finish is the side sems, sleeves and then hem it. So far I am really proud of what I have done on it considering I am not a very good a sewing. We also started explanation writing. I am writing about the Northern lights. I am finding it difficult to not write a report about them. We edited our asttle writing and I think I did alright with it. We went to French and learnt about names of animals and also did some revision from last years lessons.
Outside of school I learnt more moves in my lyrical dance class. In ballet we sorted out everyone's flat shoes and now next week we will be getting pointe shoes!!

Week 3 Term 1

Hello! The first three weeks have gone past so fast.
Mr McCabe has announced the head students for 2017. Unfortunately, I was not one of them, but Bryleella, Daniel, Stageia and Emma all got the head student position. I didn't get any leadership role but it was worth a try. I forgot to say that in my last post that I auditioned for rock band. I had a call back, but didn't make the cut.
On a happier note, we had swimming sports which was really fun. We also started cutting out our jerseys in soft materials tech arts. I am making an all green camo jersey. My friends are very angry because it is plain and "ugly". I think it looks okay. I learnt to use shears. Shears are scissors that are designed to cut fabric. We did asttle writing. I think I did alright. I think the topic was quite difficult to right about. The topic was "Sport is more important than music".
I have really enjoyed making new friends with the years 7s.
Outside of school I have started doing lyrical along with one of my friends Emma. We learnt a couple of lyrical moves and will hopefully learn more next Monday. I've learnt more things in ballet, and am getting stronger feet for pointe shoes.

Welcome to my blog 2017!

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I hope you all had an amazing holiday.
It is so different being a year 8. There are so many more opportunities as a year and so much more responsibility. in the first to weeks I have already applied for head student, house captain and class councilor.
We haven't done much work in class. Again like last year we are writing a letter and doing a visual language task. For the letter this year we had to write a business to Mrs Crowe applying for class councilor or house captain. For our visual language task we are showing our teacher (Mrs Crowe) 5 things she needs to know about us or things that are important to us. My five things are, my family, my friends, netball, music and dance.
Happy Valentines day❣๐
Bye! I will try and post all the way through the year, this year.
