Week 5 Term 2

Week 5 has been amazing, yet very stressful for science fair tech arts, assembly and alot more.
Mr McCabe was our relive teacher for Monday and Tuesday as Mrs Crowe was away at a course.

On Monday, at assembly, 7 people from my class received silver badges. AMAZING. It was really cool to see everyone focused on the stage. Mr McCabe wasn't taking assembly so it wasn't very long. We had writing after assembly. I had done some at home the night before so I was finished and ready to draft it. I decided that I would enter a science competition called Epro8 Challenge. I entered the challenge with my 3 friends, Emma, Bobby and Jess. We called our group Little Einstein's named after Albert Einstein himself. After morning tea we were all dressed in our P.E Gear ready to go to the A.L.C to play volleyball. We didn't go because Mr McCabe was talking about how greedy humans are and how we don't know or care about events happening around the world. When he said that we didn't know or care about whaling in Japan I was slightly annoyed because I did know and definitely did care. This went right through our volleyball time. Afterwards we had maths it was really good because I wasn't as far as I would have liked to be in maths. My learning intentions were, To Order Fractions and To Use Improper Fractions And Mixed Numbers(Fractions Greater Than 1). After lunch we had SSR and reading.

On Tuesday, we did tech arts. Emma and I got straight into working on our marble run. We started sticking our marbles course on after we did 2 or 3 we timed it. Surprisingly it was only 3 seconds. We were quite silly and stuck them on to much of an angle, so we fixed it. So far we made it to 8 seconds and it needs to be 20 seconds. Next we had maths and I continued with the Improper Fractions. During lunch I had Jump Jam practise. We did Uptown Funk. Turns out that we might not be doing W.I.M.S Jump Jam anyway. But we will still teach it to the school. After lunch we carried on with maths reading or writing I did reading.

Mrs Crowe is back from the course! :)

On Wednesday, we did the science ICAS Test. I finished the test and think I did reasonably well. After morning tea we did some finishing off. I edited my writing and handed it in, did my reading and then the bell rang. I got changed into my P.E Gear ready for Jump Jam after lunch. After lunch we went to French. We did  quiz about buildings in Paris and had conversations that included, Hello my name is....... what is your name and how are you. We were late getting to Jump Jam because we went to long at French. When we got there they were doing the song Freaks.

This is a 4 day week! :)

On Thursday, I did more maths and handed in my reading. I finished all the maths that I was allowed to do. Luckily I didn't have to do the ratio's because I don't understand them.

Anyway that is basically all that happened this week at school.

On Friday, I went to the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB). They performed the Wizard Of Oz. My Grandma bought me a ballet shoe signed by Lucy Green (Picture of her Below). We got home at 12 pm.

On Saturday, we lost our netball game! :( Then I went to a friends house for a party. I am really tired.

Week 4 Term 2

 This week has been great!

On Monday, at assembly Mr McCabe talked about bullying and walking on the grass. Mr Denize talked about all the sport opportunities at the moment such as AIMS, WIMS and interclass volleyball and dodge ball. Mr Ellis invited all the students that were receiving a S.H.I.N.E Band and told us what the focus was for the week. It is We include others- We show kindness.

On Tuesday, we had tech in the morning. We did more P.O.E.W's. We did a balloon rocket race. We had to design, build and make it work. I was in a group with Emma, Bobby and Jess. We took longer than expected because we were trying to it our own way and not like everyone else. Unfortunately we had to change our idea to be like everyone else's :(. For reading my group learnt about all of the different points of views that a book is written in. You can have First person, Third person, Third person limited, Third person objective, Third person omniscient. The Third person views are quite hard to tell the difference between because there are only small differences between them.

On Wednesday, we did Otago Problem Solving. Some of the questions I found really hard and I didn't know how to work them out and some I thought that some were quite easy. I got 2 out of 5. We had Jump Jam leaders at lunch time to do our new routine Uptown Funk for W.I.M.S. After lunch we had a French lesson. We learnt how to say how we are feeling and ask how are other people are feeling. We also did jump jam where I helped teach the new jump jam song, Freaks. The team picked it up really quickly. It was really fun to expirence what it is like to teach a new song to the team.

On Thursday, we had a house meeting for inter house winter games. I am doing Netball. In the morning we did a word puzzle. I found it really fun, yet really challenging. Apart from that the day was really relaxing.

On Friday, we found out that there was going to be no sport happening as the weather was a bit on the cold side. Anyway, tech arts was really fun we learnt about forces like gravity. After learning about this we started making a marble track. I am working with Emma. We have a really good design planned. Crossed fingers that it works!!!

On Saturday, I had netball. We had our first win since grading. YAY!!!

Thats pretty much it for this week I hope that you had a good week as well.

Week 3 Term 2

This week was another great week at Te Awamutu Intermediate.

On Monday, we started note taking for our new writing task that is report writing. We had a choice out of 6 different animals. I chose  a meerkat. For our reading task, we have to read a small piece of writing. Group 2 is reading Mrs Flowers by Maya Angelou. I learnt the meanings of many different words such as Aristocrat and inedible. After interval we did volleyball. It was really fun because it was my first time playing and I thought I was pretty good. We learnt how to serve, scoop and volley. I had rep netball practise which was really fun but was also really cold as we were practising in the rain.

On Tuesday, we had tech arts it was really fun as we had our first science lesson with Mrs Tyson. She is a great teacher and she is really funny. We learnt all the rules of her science room and learnt what P.O.E.W (a scientific method) (pronounced pooy) stands for. It stands for Predict Observe Explain What if.

On Wednesday, because of band camp, we had no Jump Jam or French:(! Everyone seemed to have a really fun time at band camp, but I think that the kids left in class had a fun time as well because we only had about 10 kids in class for two whole days. At netball practise we learnt new drills and skills to use in our game on Saturday.

On Thursday, we watched a movie called Jamanji. I love this movie because it is really random and crazy. At ballet we learnt a new move.

On Friday, everyone was back in class and ready to work again. Again we had science it was really fun as I got to work with my friends to do some P.O.E.W's. We had to light a teabag and make it float into the air.

On Saturday, we lost our netball game, but it was a good game.

On Sunday, I had a rep tournament. We got 2nd place!!

Week 2 Term 2

This week was very exciting with more call back and trials.

On Monday, we had assembly. I got my first Never Give Up band. Now I have 3 bands my shine band, respect band and Never Give Up band. I also received two certificates one for a maths test and one for a basketball tournament because I got a credit and we were runners up in the tournament. After morning tea we were going to learn how to play lacrosse. We learnt  about the history of the sport like what lacrosse means. It means "the stick". Playing lacrosse doesn't look very hard, but it is really tricky. If you can see, I'm the girl in the background of the boy!

On Tuesday, I was again waiting outside the notice board waiting for the notice to be put up. By the time she put it up it was about two minutes to class time. I was so happy when I saw that Emma, Raiha, Rowan, Ella and I all got in. I was excited for everyone else I just don't know them very much. We all met in the A.L.C to practise the song freaks. We had our second to last wood tech arts today. No one completely finished, but many were very close. I did not finish and I still had a lot of work to go. At the end of this session all I had to do was put the wheels on my cassie, do the air filters and then put them all together.

On Wednesday, we had French we learnt how to pronounce a famous French name. I picked Emilie because it's my name. We also had Jump Jam Emma and I lead it was really fun because we did songs that I really like such as Can't hold us.

On Thursday, it was quite a relaxed day apart from the part were I totally forgot about the chrome books even though I had been talking to Mrs Crowe before school. The Jump Jam leaders notice was put up today I was super excited to see that me and my friends have all been accepted to be in the Jump Jam competition group.I had helped tidy the library before heading up to the A.L.C. I also got another call back for Belmont netball.

On Friday nothing much happened apart from trailing AGAIN for Belmont Netball. I think I did quite well in the trial.

Anyway, I have had another great week at Te Awamutu Intermediate. On Saturday at netball we lost 7-37. But we played as team and we tryed our best.

Week 1 Term 2

Bonjour everyone!

The first day back at school was really fun because everyone met with all friends again. On Monday, there was no assembly instead we had a powhiri to welcome the teacher who will be reliving for a teacher while she is on maternity leave and the new Japanese teacher. I also had WIMS Basketball Trials. I think I did well and have a chance to get in, but the girls that trialed were really good as well.

On Tuesday, we had a special visitor his name was Mike King. He had to sessions one in the morning and one in the afternoon our class was in the afternoon because we had tech arts. I also met the Japanese teacher properly while we were at wood. I made a lot of progress on my truck even though I made really big mistakes! One was that I glued the two sides of my truck to the bottom but instead of gluing them facing the same way I glued them facing opposite ways. The others I can't remember because they weren't as big of mistakes. In the afternoon, it was our turn to listen to Mike King. He talked about his battle with depression,  addiction and his life. It all started with not liking the way that he looked and just wanting to be liked as a kid. One day his only friend Nigel came up with a really bad joke, but he made the joke funny. Other people heard a the joke and they finally accepted him. He was finally accepted to the popular but after a while, they got tired of his jokes and started telling him to pick on other people for their own amusement. By the age of 13, he was an acholic and by 17 years old he was a drug addict. He was a drug addict and an acholic until the age of 45. At 45 years of age, he started counseling. A couple years later he started talking to kids and adults.

On Wednesday, I trialed for Belmont netball it was very difficult because of I didn't know many people's names. I felt really stressed because there was the netball trials AND Jump Jam leaders trials. Luckily I got to trial the next day.

On Thursday, Emma and I both trialed for jump jam at the same time. Mrs Bayley said it was a slightly easier audition because we auditioned during fun jump jam which is always run on a Thursday. I also found out that I had been called back to trial again for Belmont netball it was really exciting.

On Friday, Emma was bugging me to look at the notice board and I wasn't sure why? Turns out she was annoying me because I had been called back to audition again for Jump Jam leaders. I trialed again for WIMS Basketball after lunch, and then for Belmont netball before the bell rang.

Anyway, that was my week very busy and I was really tired after all the trialing. Netball on Saturday was very tiring as I did a lot of running around and so did the rest of the team and to make it worse it was really hot. We lost by 10 but we were versing year 10's and at one stage in the game we were actually winning.

Au revoir everybody!

Week 10 Term 1

Bonjour everybody
This term has been fantastique (fantastic) so far. I think I have fit in nicely at T.A.I.

On Monday, we had really long assembly I think it was 80 minutes, but Mr Mcabe has gone to Singapore to visit 5-7 schools, so they won't be so long. We were also given two math tasks. I was on the mat learning about all of the different angles and  how to measure them using a protractor. It was mainly just revision for me, though.
On Tuesday, we didn't have any Jump Jam leaders as Ms Bayley is on camp. I also started on the math tasks. I started doing my grill it was really hard as I am a perfectionist, so it took me a long time to get the lines right. I then used something to make a hole on the lines (I can't remember what is is called).
On Wednesday, only three classes were doing Jump Jam because Room's 1 and 16 were on camp. It was really fun because I got to lead with 3 other people from my class and 2 from Room 15. During this, I also learnt a new song, 'Pump It'. .Before this, year 7's were at french. We learnt how to count without looking at the numbers. This is how you count in french.

Un-one, deux-two, trois-three, quatre-four, cinq-five, six-six, sept-seven, huit-eight, neuf-nine and dix-ten.

On Thursday, Emma and I did fun Jump Jam with Mrs Finn. We lead 2-3  songs and it was really fun. It was a really relaxing day as normal, and I finished my draft of my descriptive writing. I wrote about a stream.
On Friday, I finished all of my maths and that was another very relaxing day. At tech arts, I finished doing my grill and I'm really proud of it I think it looks great. I also started my wheels and I'm finding it very difficult to do this because I am using the bench drill and not the keenest on it.

Salut everyone!

This is my writing:

L.I. To write descriptively by precise/specific nouns and verbs, to describe a place.

Stream

The current rips at the dirt forcing it to collapse. Dragging the dogs away through the concrete that lay above. Plants wave around under the ground while they wave for mercy. Eels glide through the rapids as we struggle to plant our feet in the ground. Sticks bob through the water waiting for a dog to fetch it. Oak trunks sweep across our feet while we ride the creek back to the bridge with the dogs. Weeping willows sway in the light breeze. 3 labradors paddle through the crystal water while panting after a lengthy swim. Shaking their fur after a dip before going back into have more fun. Chasing each other until one is fatigued or has no energy. The horrendous fumes of wet dog burn my nose, and when they go the smell of fresh plants and  clean water back. Peaceful sounds of birds rustling in the trees and the rush of the water flow. As we trudge through the rapids, dogs paddle beside us. Birds call to each other while gliding through the air. Vaulting into the water the puppy splashes us all. Electric fences limit how far our journey goes. Maize crops enclose on the stream. The stream lights up by the sun while the sun is breaking through the clouds. Sprinting down the stream for the last time the pups need to rest.

Week 8 & 9 Term 1

Week 8

Bonjour everyone!

On Monday, the Makahari students went to Waitomo caves and the Kiwi house in Otorohanga. We also had the sayonara party on Monday it was fun. The kapahaka group sung a song and did a haka, then it was time for the students to join in. The jump jam group was there as well. Afterwards, it was time for the Japanese students to sing and/or play games. one of the songs that they sung was Happy Birthday as it was Mr Macabe's birthday. We had to catch up on a tech art lesson because it was the safety briefing lesson as we are doing wood. Sadly on Tuesday, we had to say goodbye to the Makahari students everybody was sad and so were the Japanese students. It was weird for all of us hosting the students because some of us were now sleeping in our own bed! Happily, we had our seconded tech lesson with, Mr Graham (the wood teacher). I learnt that I am not the most talented person in woodwork. I also found out that it isn't as scary as I thought. On Wednesday, it was a normal school day and it was so close to the easter holiday. FIVE DAYS! We were all excited and to make us even more, pumped we had jump jam! Fortunately, Mrs shore was on camp, unfortunately, it meant we had to miss out on lesson of French. On Thursday, it was really relaxing, and I was really excited for the next five days.

Week 9

Week nine is A THREE DAY WEEK! This week was so fun. Even though we didn't have a full week it seemed like we were very busy.On Wednesday, we were all excited to see what our friends had got up to in the easter holiday. I had french and we revised what we did in the last lesson, except this time we focused more on numbers instead of introducing ourselves. Afterwards, we had jump jam, unfortunately we did not win the golden rock.:( On Thursday, it was relaxing as usual. It was really fun when we did chrome books, but I'm not sure why:P. On Friday, we had inter-house summer games, it was really fun. I wanted to play table tennis as that was the only sport I was good at in the choices we had. I was put into non-stop cricket. Luckily I had played cricket before! We lost three games and they were close, we won one and that was close as well.

Salut everybody! I will blog next weekend! :)
