Week 10 Term 1

Bonjour everybody
This term has been fantastique (fantastic) so far. I think I have fit in nicely at T.A.I.

On Monday, we had really long assembly I think it was 80 minutes, but Mr Mcabe has gone to Singapore to visit 5-7 schools, so they won't be so long. We were also given two math tasks. I was on the mat learning about all of the different angles and  how to measure them using a protractor. It was mainly just revision for me, though.
On Tuesday, we didn't have any Jump Jam leaders as Ms Bayley is on camp. I also started on the math tasks. I started doing my grill it was really hard as I am a perfectionist, so it took me a long time to get the lines right. I then used something to make a hole on the lines (I can't remember what is is called).
On Wednesday, only three classes were doing Jump Jam because Room's 1 and 16 were on camp. It was really fun because I got to lead with 3 other people from my class and 2 from Room 15. During this, I also learnt a new song, 'Pump It'. .Before this, year 7's were at french. We learnt how to count without looking at the numbers. This is how you count in french.

Un-one, deux-two, trois-three, quatre-four, cinq-five, six-six, sept-seven, huit-eight, neuf-nine and dix-ten.

On Thursday, Emma and I did fun Jump Jam with Mrs Finn. We lead 2-3  songs and it was really fun. It was a really relaxing day as normal, and I finished my draft of my descriptive writing. I wrote about a stream.
On Friday, I finished all of my maths and that was another very relaxing day. At tech arts, I finished doing my grill and I'm really proud of it I think it looks great. I also started my wheels and I'm finding it very difficult to do this because I am using the bench drill and not the keenest on it.

Salut everyone!

This is my writing:

L.I. To write descriptively by precise/specific nouns and verbs, to describe a place.

Stream

The current rips at the dirt forcing it to collapse. Dragging the dogs away through the concrete that lay above. Plants wave around under the ground while they wave for mercy. Eels glide through the rapids as we struggle to plant our feet in the ground. Sticks bob through the water waiting for a dog to fetch it. Oak trunks sweep across our feet while we ride the creek back to the bridge with the dogs. Weeping willows sway in the light breeze. 3 labradors paddle through the crystal water while panting after a lengthy swim. Shaking their fur after a dip before going back into have more fun. Chasing each other until one is fatigued or has no energy. The horrendous fumes of wet dog burn my nose, and when they go the smell of fresh plants and  clean water back. Peaceful sounds of birds rustling in the trees and the rush of the water flow. As we trudge through the rapids, dogs paddle beside us. Birds call to each other while gliding through the air. Vaulting into the water the puppy splashes us all. Electric fences limit how far our journey goes. Maize crops enclose on the stream. The stream lights up by the sun while the sun is breaking through the clouds. Sprinting down the stream for the last time the pups need to rest.

Week 8 & 9 Term 1

Week 8

Bonjour everyone!

On Monday, the Makahari students went to Waitomo caves and the Kiwi house in Otorohanga. We also had the sayonara party on Monday it was fun. The kapahaka group sung a song and did a haka, then it was time for the students to join in. The jump jam group was there as well. Afterwards, it was time for the Japanese students to sing and/or play games. one of the songs that they sung was Happy Birthday as it was Mr Macabe's birthday. We had to catch up on a tech art lesson because it was the safety briefing lesson as we are doing wood. Sadly on Tuesday, we had to say goodbye to the Makahari students everybody was sad and so were the Japanese students. It was weird for all of us hosting the students because some of us were now sleeping in our own bed! Happily, we had our seconded tech lesson with, Mr Graham (the wood teacher). I learnt that I am not the most talented person in woodwork. I also found out that it isn't as scary as I thought. On Wednesday, it was a normal school day and it was so close to the easter holiday. FIVE DAYS! We were all excited and to make us even more, pumped we had jump jam! Fortunately, Mrs shore was on camp, unfortunately, it meant we had to miss out on lesson of French. On Thursday, it was really relaxing, and I was really excited for the next five days.

Week 9

Week nine is A THREE DAY WEEK! This week was so fun. Even though we didn't have a full week it seemed like we were very busy.On Wednesday, we were all excited to see what our friends had got up to in the easter holiday. I had french and we revised what we did in the last lesson, except this time we focused more on numbers instead of introducing ourselves. Afterwards, we had jump jam, unfortunately we did not win the golden rock.:( On Thursday, it was relaxing as usual. It was really fun when we did chrome books, but I'm not sure why:P. On Friday, we had inter-house summer games, it was really fun. I wanted to play table tennis as that was the only sport I was good at in the choices we had. I was put into non-stop cricket. Luckily I had played cricket before! We lost three games and they were close, we won one and that was close as well.

Salut everybody! I will blog next weekend! :)

Week 7 Term 1

Salut everybody!
This was another amazing week at TAI!

On Monday, we had another assembly and the Makahari Students went horse riding and shopping. On Tuesday, we had tech arts this was really fun. I finished my bag and started stitching a mouse I didn't finish my mouse as I only had one day to do it. The Makahari students were at school.

The Japanese students went to Rotorua on Wednesday they left early and came back at five! Luckily I had netball practise till five as well. I had another lesson of french it was really fun and found out how to say goodbye and words that are used in a class room. On Thursday, the Makahari students were at Te Awamutu Intermediate for half of the day and at 1:30 they went to Pekerau school to see what a primary school looks like in N.Z.

Friday was very busy. Iforgot my shoes for tech and needed them for netball (fridaysport) and basketball practise after school. Lukey enough my friend Emma let me borow her shoes for basketball and tech and netball wasn't on. The Japanese students were at school.

On Saturday, I had junior farmer competion and my team name was Frozen. This isnt school related, but two people from my class were in the team that won the competion.

Watch for my next blog on Friday-Sunday next week.

Week 6 Term 1

Bonjour everybody!
This week is the best week ever even know we have done so much maths, it was great!

On Tuesday at tech arts I changed my design on my bag from "Dance is life, life is netball" to "Y?". I am thinking about giving my bag to Mai as a going away gift as she will be there the day that I finish it. I learnt how to sew a side seam on a bag and it is not very hard I thought it was going to be very difficult but it was so easy. We also had our boating safety course on Tuesday as well. We were put into 3 teams. We were the first group to go to the boat. We had to get into the boat without tipping so we had to keep the boat balanced by going one at a time, I was one of the last people on because I was scared I was going to tip the boat. another activity we did was how to rescue someone when you are on the boat and another person in the water we had to through a bag with rope inside for the other person to grab onto and we would have to pull the person in. The last activity was a group safety exercise. We were told about some different tools like a flare witch you use when you see a boat and you are stranded some where. Another was personal radio that contacted the states if you needed help. We had to form lines and swim together as group. Also we were told how to keep warm if in the water, cover your chest. On Wednesday Room 3 had Jump Jam it was really fun as always, but I learnt no new songs. Before that I had a French lesson, I learnt how to say " Hello, I am Emily, and you ". I also learnt how to spell my name in French and and the French alphabet.

On Thursday I was so excited about meeting my Japanese student for 2016! I have been waiting for a Japanese student for exactly four years. My brother Jamal hosted two when he was at Intermediate there names were Shogo and Yuki. My Japanese student's name is Mai she is funny, kind and enthusiastic towards New Zealand's culture. We also did school singing which was really fun because we sung my favourite song ''Sorry"! On Friday I had tech arts again except this time Mai was there and she enjoyed herself. There were many laughs at tech arts that day, but we still got heaps finished, yet still so much to go!

Au revoir

Week 5 Term 1

This week I learnt so much and enjoyed this week more than any other! This week we had our first student assembly, it was hilarious. My friend Sam showed everyone how to apply make-up in 10 seconds and Cheng-Yu showed us all how to talk to computers. For tech arts this week we started to design our bags, my design is very complicated so it may change. We were told what was needed and the step by step process to make the bag. We have done alot of maths this week, we learnt about things like expanding and simplifying, what and how to use powers or index notation. I also learnt what some different words were for example quotient, this word means to divide. I went to a Jump Jam leader day on Tuesday this week, we did the song Ice Ice Baby again and learnt a new song called Jai Ho. On Friday we got forms about what Japanese student we will be having. I have a girl named Mai, her hobbies include; listing to music, animation and playing game. She looks very pretty in the picture that is on the sheet of paper, sent from Japan. Also on Friday we had Inter house swimming sports. Unfortunately I had cut my foot the day before and was unable to swim more than one race as my foot was stinging from the chlorine in the water. I also had a French lesson with Mrs Shaw. I learnt how to say Hello, Hi and Good evening. I am really enjoying my time at Te Awamutu Intermediate. Bye!

Week 4 Term 1

Another very enjoyable week. This week in tech arts I finished my pillow witch says ''what's the pointe". I have also decided that I would like to be a Jump Jam leader for 2016, but I have to trial witch is fine. On Wednesday room 3 went to the museum to learn more about Waitangi day and why it is such a big part of New Zealand's history. During our visit to the museum we got to dress up as the children did 100's of years ago. I was a devious person who wanted to sail over to New Zealand without permission. Some people were lucky enough to get to use a prop. Again we did Friday sport and I did Jump Jam again.

Week 3 Term 1

Unfortunately I did not make Rock Band this year witch is fine because next year I know exactly what is going to happen and what to improve on. This week we did Jump Jam I learnt songs that I never heard of before! On Friday I was involved in Friday sport this week I did jump jam with Arden, some of my other friends were there to but from a different class. On Tuesday night I played basketball representing T.A.I , we lost our game but we are practising and improving our game. In Tech arts this week we designed our pillow on my pillow is a quote saying "What's the Pointe". Pointe spelt with an E because in ballet after normal shoes you go onto pointe shoes. This week we have also been learning all about Waitangi day. I didn't know much about waitangi day but now I know more abut what it is about. I will keep you posted about anything else that happens in the year. Bye for now!
